Looking for a working kitty?
Come adopt a barn cat today!

Our barn cat adoption program gives semi-feral to fully feral cats a second chance at life. Our available "barn cats" are often cats we've pulled off euthanasia lists that can not be returned to their original colony, and/or are deemed unsuitable for a traditional family life indoors.

The cats placed in this program have already adapted to living a life mostly, or fully outdoors. Some of them may be fitted to a hybrid indoor/outdoor lifestyle (more tolerable of human interaction). On the opposite end of the spectrum, some of them may be anti-social and wish to be left to their outdoor work.

Benefits of a Barn Cat

About your new barn cat...

ALL cats adopted out of our shelter leave fully vetted. Your $25 adoption fee covers vaccinations, spay/ neuter, and microchip. No cats leave our shelter unaltered! Once you leave with your new barn cat, you will assume the feeding, medical, and financial responsibilities. Your cat must have a safe patrol space on your property, with adequate distance from any major busy roads/ highways.

Your cat will need a few weeks to acclimate to their new territory.

3 Steps to Acclimation

  1. Crate- For the first few days you should keep your barn cat crated with fresh food and water so they learn where their new home base is. If you take your barn cat home and immediately release them, they are likely to be scared and confused, and will run away.

  2. Routine- Keeping a routine and feeding schedule is good for teaching your barn cat where "home" is.

  3. Release & ongoing care- Once you and your barn cat have built confidence and established "home", they are ready to be released! Your cat will still require daily food and water after release, and attention to ensure he or she remains in good health.
